Recovery Aftercare: What Comes After Treatment

Treatment ends on a schedule; recovery does not. Treatment opens some doorways and maybe gives you a rough sketch; here, we hope to help you explore the rooms, form meaningful relationships, dive deeper into yourself, identifying and understanding patterns and truly practicing acceptance with the support of The Community. We are a therapy practice in downtown Alpharetta where recovery is worked in a circle with people doing the same work, in person or by telehealth anywhere in Georgia.

Adults 18 and over. Every group starts with a screening conversation with its facilitator.

01
WHERE ACCOUNTABILITY THINS OUT

The Gap

Treatment ends on a discharge date. The months after a program are where accountability and meaningful connection usually thin out: the structure and schedule that held everything together disappear, and what replaces it is whatever you build. A standing group is the structure built for exactly that stretch, and at this practice it is not an add-on to therapy; it is half of how therapy works here.

The Rooms

OPEN, ONGOING · ENROLLING NOW

SUD Recovery Process Group

If you are coming out of treatment, the SUD Recovery Process Group is the recovery group we recommend. It is a 1-hour, in-person open process group that meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 6:30 PM: a recovery accountability and process group led by Grey Donnell, where members bring their lives and recovery into the room, build meaningful connections, deepen self-understanding, recognize and make sense of recurring patterns, and learn to practice acceptance with the support and accountability of the group. It is enrolling now.

Over time, and only if you want to, you can also join one of our general process groups. Many people in recovery find that connecting with people beyond recovery circles deepens the work and the sense of belonging.

FORMING NOW

Support Group for Loved Ones of Addicted Persons

is forming now. It is a supportive space for loved ones of people struggling with addiction, recognizing that they carry their own pain, wounds, and patterns that deserve attention. This group offers room to step out of the role of managing someone else’s recovery, focus on your own healing, and discover how your healing can become part of a different path forward for everyone involved.

Names and a snapshot is all this page holds; the full catalog with each group’s status lives on the groups page, and each facilitator’s full background is on their page Grey and Todd.

03
YOU KEEP YOUR THERAPIST

How It Fits Around Care You Already Have

If you have a therapist, you keep your therapist: group-only participation exists for exactly this, and with a signed consent, your therapist and the group’s facilitator consult so the two rooms work together instead of as disparate entities. If you want individual therapy here, the practice’s model applies: for our adult clients, individual therapy includes group, with an on-ramp that respects where you are; no one joins a group in week one, and the screening conversation checks readiness before anything begins.
The Community is not a substance use disorder treatment program. The recovery groups here support recovery; they do not replace treatment. If what this season needs is treatment, we will say so warmly and point the way.

ASKED AND ANSWERED

Frequently Asked Questions

For most people it centers on the SUD Recovery Process Group, a standing group entered through a screening conversation with the facilitator, with individual therapy optional alongside it. The rhythm is the point: a room that is there every time, holding the accountability that a program’s schedule used to hold, at whatever frequency you and your therapist set.
No. The Community is an outpatient therapy practice, not a treatment program of any kind, and its recovery groups support recovery rather than replace treatment.
The screening conversation decides that, person by person: fit, readiness, and safety, in a direct and warm conversation with the group’s facilitator. Our hope is that clients find The Community as part of their aftercare planning.
A Support Group for Loved Ones of Addicted Persons is forming now, and couples and family therapy already exist at the practice. The people around addiction and recovery carry their own weight through it, and the same door works for them: call the main line and the screening conversation goes from there.
No. Group-only participation is open to any adult 18 or over, including people in therapy elsewhere, whose therapist stays their therapist, with consent coordinating the two rooms if desired, and people not in therapy at all. Every group begins with the same screening conversation.
Each therapist’s rate is on their page, and the fee will be confirmed during a free 15-minute consult. A limited number of reduced-fee sessions are available; ask at your consult. A group at the same frequency is included in your individual fee; the group-only rate is $25 per session. Our prices are published on the pricing page, so cost is a conversation before it is ever a surprise.
